RAN Science and Technology is a recognized leader in optical physics research and development.

Under the strategic focus of Chief Scientist, Dr. Russell Kurtz, RAN scientists offer cutting-edge solutions to private companies and government agencies through their expertise in nonlinear optics, holography, photorefractivity, nanotechnology, laser, sensor, solar energy, nondestructive evaluation, optoelectronic and infrared applications and systems.

In addition to its private contracts, RAN has been the recipient of numerous federally initiated Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) grants. Dr. Kurtz attributes RAN’s SBIR success to its unique “team approach” in the application process. He has been asked to share this approach in presentations to venture capital and investment audiences across the country. A section of this site is devoted to further discussion of this topic.

RAN seeks to engage in dynamic, collaborative partnerships focused on transformational research and innovation that can be applied to a range of markets and opportunities. In the past, this has included advanced research, product development, and small systems integration in cooperation with high-tech businesses (large and small), investment banks, and the State and Federal Governments. We operate within the framework of the International Trade in Arms Regulations.

Academic researchers, businesses, investors, and others interested in collaborating with RAN to open new frontiers in scientific innovation and product development should contact Dr. Kurtz.
